Postal Service, Columbia Facilities Service Office, Columbia MD 21045,
will issue Solicitation #232098-99-A-0064 on or about July 23, 1999
for the above stated project. This advertisement is for subcontracting
opportunities, since contractors have been pre-qualified. The scope of
work is to complete design/engineering from 30% preliminary design to
100% complete design, and to construct a new, approximately 30,000
square foot, post office building on a 6.513 acre site. Work includes
the following: a retail store, workroom, loading dock and equipment,
support areas, and covered carrier parking. The building will be
constructed using steel frame, metal stud walls and standard-size full
face brick exterior walls, concrete slab on grade, four-ply built-up
roof system and standing seam metal roofs, metal stud and gypsum board
interior partitions and acoustical ceilings, roll-up sectional and
sliding interior partitions, door hardware, ceramic tile, resilient
flooring, carpeting, custom cabinets, glass storefront systems, glass
block, painting. Complete plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems will
include gas roof top units, power, lighting, and alarm systems, two
security camera systems, and fully sprinkled with fire protection
systems. Also included in the development of the 6.5 acre site is
parking for customers, employees, postal vehicles, loading dock
maneuvering area, mail drop box lane, and complete landscaping, fencing
and signage. Site development includes paying/obtaining all permits,
tap connections and utilities necessary for
connections/development/construction of this project. As part of the
solicitation, the U.S.P.S. is furnishing certain preliminary drawings,
surveys and other items to describe the extent to the quality of the
work required. The design and construction of the subject facility
shall meet or exceed the level of quality indicated in these documents.
Included in this scope of work, the design/build entity shall at a
minimum complete the design and construction to fully comply with all
applicable local codes and ordinances. The solicitation documents
provided may exceed local code requirements, in case of conflict with
local code the more restrictive requirements shall govern. Contractors

available through the Architect-Engineering firm of Karl R. Rohrer
Associates, Inc., 3810 Ridgewood Road, Akron OH 44321-1698, at a cost

Evidence of bonding availability is required to be included in the

standing of the offer will not be disclosed to anyone except those
postal personnel whose official duties require such information until
