E-MAIL: Timothy W. Pugh, PughTW@kscgws00.ksc.nasa.gov. THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR RACK MOUNT TOUCH MONITORS. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following questions which were submitted by potential quoters: Question 1 -- On your recent posting of FAQs in relation to this RFQ (Amendment 1)you mentioned in answer 3 the submittal date is 7/20/99 but all other is 7/27/99. Please advise. Answer 1 -- The submittal date for quotations is 27 July 1999. The answer to question 3 in Amendment 1 was a request for information from the potential quoters regarding the delivery schedule. The response to that request, if any, was due on 20 July 1999. Question 2 -- Is one remote required per system or how many remotes do you want for the 100 monitors. Answer 2 -- All 100 monitors must have remote capability. The solicitation is herebychanged to reflect a quantity of 20 tethered remote control units. Question 3 -- An 18.1" TFT LCD can fit within the confines of a 19" EIA rack and provide a flush mounting. The resolution of this panel is 1280 x 1024. The LCD panel is manufactured by Sharp in Japan. Is this the panel you wish to have? Answer 3 -- No. The requirement is for a flat screen CRT monitor. Question 4 -- We can offer lower cost LCD panels (1024 x 768) that are packaged with a 19" EIA rack bezel. Should we offer these as alternatives? Answer 4 -- No, see answer 3 above. Question 5 -- We manufacture a very rugged enhanced infrared touch screen that is widely used in industrial plants, military applications, and other U.S. Government facilities. This touch screen is covered by a 5 years warranty without limitations to cuts, scratches, or wear to the touch surface. This technology is not affected by dust or water. Can we offer this touch technology as an alternative? Answer 5 -- No, the requirement is for a Surface Acoustic Wave technology touchscreen. The touchpoint density, activation force, positional accuracy, and response time of the Surface Acoustic Wave technology is required for our application. These units are intended for an air conditioned, humidity controlled office environment, therefore, "ruggedness" of the touchscreen is not a factor in the selection. Question 6 -- Is the RFQ based on an existing product? Is so, can you furnish a manfacturer and model number? Answer 6 -- This requirement is not based upon an existing product. A rack mount monitor with Surface Acoustic Wave technology touchscreen which meets all listed requirements will be acceptable. Question 7 -- 8 RU is 14" and 9 RU is 15.75". In order to fit into 15.75" of rackspace as a maximum, the maximum screen size would be a 17" (16" viewable monitor). Answer 7 -- The first part of the statement regarding Rack Unit (RU) height is correct. The solicitation is changed to read "total panel height 9RU (15.75") maximum". In regards to the second part of the statement, more than one potential supplier has assured that it can provide a 19" diagonal monitor within the height requirement. Question 8 -- Is a tethered remote control a definite requirement? Answer 8 -- Yes. Question 9 -- Is the screen to be "clear" or "anti-clear"? Answer 9 -- Clear. Question 10 -- Rack Color? Answer 10 -- Black. Question 11 -- We would be able to offer a lower price solution with the following delivery schedule. 25 units delivered in 45 days. 25 units delivered in 60 days. 25 units delivered in 75 days. 25 units delivered in 90 days. Answer 11 -- The delivery date for receipt of the monitors is hereby changed from "45 days ARO" to "90 days ARO". A phased delivery schedule as requested above is acceptable. All quoters shall provide its delivery schedule as part of its quotation. Question 12 -- Please provide more information regarding "tethered remote control unit for monitor". Up to what distance from rack, shall these be tethered? Shall they be connected via a proprietary video card interface or wired directly to the display itself? Are you refering to display controls available and accessable at the face of the rackmount? Answer 12 -- Please refer to question / answer 4 provided in Amendment 1 for the details to the remote and the answers to your questions. Question 13 -- Would an 18.1" diagonal flat panel display monitor meeting all other requirements be acceptable? Answer 13 -- No. A 19" diagonal flat screen CRT monitor is required. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended and remains close of business 27 July 1999. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 12 July 1999.
