The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, Florida, is seeking sources for a device that would be used as a Diver Held Underwater Explosive Ordnance Locator for the U.S. Navy. Characteristics of the Locator shall be as follows: a) Be lightweight and one-man portable, easy to swim (neutrally buoyant); b) Be able to withstand shock of transport to dive location (i.e. assembled device without carrying case, laying on floor of a zodiac type inflatable boat, sea state 2); c) Have minimum magnetic signature; d) Field replaceable non-magnetic batteries; e) Have an audio and visual output to the diver. Incorporation of Global Positioning System (GPS) for marking target location would be of interest but not a specific requirement. Respondents should also comment on the ability to provide the Locator Device in FY 2000(Oct 1999 through Sep 2000) and continued availability over the next five years.
