6100, MSC 7902, Bethesda, MD 20892 A -- MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING IN ACUTE CLINICAL SETTING -- POTENTIAL
SOURCES SOUGHT DUE 080699 POC Kathleen Van Steelant, Contracting
Officer, Ph: 301-435-0364, Fax: 301-480-3345 The National Institutes of
Health (NIH) intends to procure on a sole source basis to Suburban
Hospital, Inc., Bethesda, Maryland for supplies, clinical testing and
overtime staffing in order to support the National Heart, Lung, and
Blood Institute (NHLBI) Cardiovascular MRI project already in existence
at Suburban Hospital. This requirement will be obtained through a
modification to NIH Contract Number N02-HL-8-3755 with Suburban
Hospital for "Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Acute Clinical Setting". It
is believed that Suburban Hospital is the sole source for this
requirement based on the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The purpose of this
program is to support the collaborative research program between
Suburban Hospital and the NIH to study the use of Magnetic Resonance
Imaging (MRI) in the clinical evaluation of acute cardiac patients.
Over the last few years, NHLBI has been developing new MRI techniques
for the evaluation of cardiac patients. NIH awarded a contract to
Suburban Hospital to install a MRI scanner at the hospital to perform
clinical evaluation of these methodologies. The contract provides for
emergency nursing support, limited medical record support, limited
medical diagnostic testing, pharmaceutical supplies, and other supplies
necessary for the daily operation of an MRI scanner. The unpredictable
timing of patient studies and the physical location of the MRI scanner
in this particular hospital makes Suburban Hospital the only possible
Contractor. The period of performance will be for the duration of
Contract Number N02-HL-8-3755. Interested parties may identify their
interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit
proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive
proposals. However, all proposals received within ten (10) calendar
days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the
Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this
proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within
the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally
be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct
a competitive procurement. Posted 07/26/99 (W-SN359087). (0207) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0004 19990728\A-0004.SOL)
