EXPO The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
Small Business Conference and Exposition, featuring "Women-Owned
Businesses" The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) Small Business Conference and Exposition,
featuring "Women-Owned Businesses" will be held on Tuesday, August 3,
1999 in Conference Rooms D, E, G & H at the Parklawn Building, located
at 5600 Fischers Lane in Rockville, Maryland 20857, from 8:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. The purpose of this conference is to provide small
businesses with the opportunity to meet one on one with key contract
and technical program officials from SAMHSA, as well as SBA, to discuss
new regulations, subcontracting policies, the acquisition process and
how to identify the services purchased by SAMHSA. In particular,
women-owned businesses are encouraged to participate. Small, small
disadvantaged, women-owned businesses and historically Black Colleges
and Universities/Minority Institutions will have the opportunity to
displaytheir products and services as well as network with large
businesses and SAMHSA customers. Prime contractors are also encouraged
to exhibit and attend this event so they can network and share their
subcontracting opportunities with the small business community as well
as sell their products to SAMHSA. The major attractions on the agenda
are Welcoming Remarks by Ms. Sharon Lynn Holmes, Director, Office of
EEO and Civil Rights, SAMHSA; Special Remarks by Mr. Joseph Autry,
M.D., Deputy Director, SAMHSA; a keynote address by Dr. Faye Coleman,
President & CEO, Westover Consultants, Inc., on "Strategies for
Successful Small Business Contracting with SAMHSA"; another keynote
address by Mr. Michael McHale, Acting Assistant Administrator for the
Hubzone Program, SBA, on the "Hubzone Empowerment Contracting Program".
Following these presentation will be two workshops featuring
Contracting Opportunities with SAMHSA and a Women-Owned Business Panel
Discussion. One on one government counseling tables will be set-up to
provide the community with valuable information on the latest
procurement opportunities available within their areas. Your presence
is critical to the success of this program, particularly during the
hours of 7:45 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. as either an exhibitor or a
conference attendee. Please register as soon as possible and no later
than Monday, August 2, 1999, if you and/or your representatives will be
