accordance with FAR 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and an award
will be made in accordance with FAR Par 13, Simplified Acquisition
Procedures. The U.S. Department of Energy, Federal Energy Technology
Center (FETC), Pittsburgh, PA 15236 intends to issue a Request for
Quotations (RFQ) for a Portable Cesium Gradiometer System to be deliver
to the FETC site in Pittsburgh, PA. The Gradiometer System contains the
following: (1) Model G-858 Portable Cesium Magnetometer (or Equal)
w/accessories; (2) Model G-858 Gradiometer; and (3) Trimble Model AG132
GPS Receiver. The Portable Cesium Gradiometer System must include the
following salient specifications: a) Data Acquisition Console for
display of position and data; b) Two Cesium sensors; c) Sensor staff;
d) Interconnecting cables including RS-232 output cable; e) Carrying
harness; f) Two rechargeable GelCel batteries; g) AC/DC battery
charger; h) Operator's manual; i) Carrying Case; J) Software for
downloading instrument, diurnal correction, data and
navigation/position editing, gradient computation, gridding and
contouring. Gradiometer system provides 0.05 gamma resolution at 10
samples/sec; audio output proportional to field strength; selection and
display of all setup and in-field survey functions and parameters;
display of position and survey grid; and display of up to 5 stacked
profiles of magnetometer data. System comes standard with 1 Mbyte of
RAM storage sufficient for 8 hours of magnetometer data or 3 hours of
Gradiometer and DGPS data storage. System includes integrated GPS
receiver that allows for a one man, systematic survey of open areas
without layout or pre marking of survey lines. System provides
simultaneous recording of magnetic and DGPS data. System consists of
GPS receiver, antenna, interconnecting cables and back pack with each
modified to be non-magnetic. GPS System specifications: 1) 12-channel
GPS receiver; 2) L-band satellite differential correction receiver; 3)
Sub-meter differential accuracy; 4) 2 line, 16 character liquid
crystal display; 5) 4 button keyboard; 6) Tow programmable RS-232
serial ports: NMEA-0183 output/RTCM SC104 input. Also includes
provision for parallel swathing with real time left/right steering
commands. Includes internal software functions, light bar with
left/right indicator and over-the-shoulder-mounting are attached to
backpack. Includes Everest Multi-path reduction for increased accuracy.
The proposed purchase order is 100% set-aside for Small Business
concerns with a Size Standard of 500 employees. Evaluation is based on
best value including cost and ability to meet stated requirements.
Tentative issue date for RFQ is on or about August 6, 1999. A firm
fixed priced purchase order will be issued. Anticipated award will be
on or about August 13, 1999. Request for RFQ shall be in writing,
stating RFQ number 994W01744, complete, company name, point of contact,
address, area code and telephone number, and facsimile number.
