Science Policy and Analysis of the National Institute of Dental and
Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) has a requirement for a data resource
center designed to serve as a resource for NIDCR staff and key partners
of the Institute by identifying, describing, acquiring, maintaining,
using, analyzing, and preparing for dissemination, data from of a wide
variety of databases relevant to dental, oral and craniofacial health.
This information will be useful to NIDCR and key partners of the
Institute in a variety of ways including policy assessment and
development, program presentation, planning and evaluation. Specific
tasks of this project include: 1) Generate a catalogue of all existing
relevant databases; 2) Develop an archive of procedures and methods
used in oral surveys; 3) Evaluate selected databases for purposes of
acquisition and analysis; 4) Acquire selected databases and related
documents from dental, oral, and craniofacial surveys; 5) Study the
feasibility of web-based query system development; 6) Develop an annual
report of health statistics; 7) Produce other reports and responses as
needed; 8) Facilitate management of the Data Resource Center Oversight
Committee; and 9) Conduct transfer of activities at the end of the
contract. A geographic restriction that organizations must be within
the geographic proximity of Washington D.C. is included as part of the
requirement for this work. It is also critical that an offeror have
either someone on staff or access to someone with expertise in oral
epidemiology. The government intends to negotiate one contract for a
period of 5 years. This announcement invites all responsible sources
interested in performing this work to submit a proposal.
