The Optical Sciences Division of the Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for research and development efforts to investigate advanced technologies in the areas electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensors and systems with an emphasis on aircraft and airborne systems, to include reconnaissance systems and associated sensor systems. Specifically, the Laboratory is seeking theoretical, analytical and technical engineering efforts in the following primary task areas: (a) research, analysis and evaluation of current capabilities, system shortfalls, documentation requirements, and possible alternatives, (b) prototype design, development and installation, (c) measurement and evaluation of new or modified sensors/ systems, (d) evaluation of alternative systems/sensors, (e) technical assessment of applicable R&D programs for transitioning technology into the next stage of development, (f) performance and system specification development, and (g) risk reduction engineering. A detailed statement of work, personnel requirements, and contract data requirements, will be included in the solicitation file. The anticipated period of performance for any resulting contract will be a base year with three option years. This solicitation is 100% set-aside for small businesses.
