COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 29,1999 PSA#2398JPL 3RD ANNUAL SCIENCE FORUM FOR SMALL BUSINESSES ON AUGUST 31, 1999
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory/California Institute of Technology
(JPL/Caltech), operating under a prime contract with the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), will host the 3rd Annual
Science Forum for Small Business on August 31, 1999 from 9:00 a.m. to
12 Noon in Building 167's Conference Room. JPL's Business Opportunities
Office, NASA's Space Science Enterprise and NASA Headquarters' Office
of Small & Disadvantaged Business are sponsoring the Science Forum. The
Forum allows high-tech small businesses the opportunity to present
their "showcase capabilities" to key JPL, NASA and prime contractor
personnel (i.e., Engineers, Scientists, Management,
Procurement/Acquisition and other small businesses). The audience is to
consist of key technical, management and procurement personnel
described as "hard to get to" and offers the presenting SDB the
opportunity to seek new mentor and subcontract relationships. Over
one-third of all presenters receive a contract or subcontract as a
result of their efforts at the Science Forum. TARGETED HIGH-TECH
CAPABILITIES include the following: (1) Earth and Space Science
Research and Applications; (2) Sensor Instrument Technology; (3)
Commercial Remote Sensing; (4) Spacecraft Hardware; (5) Space and
Ground Communications; (6) Electrical, Mechanical and Systems
Engineering; (7) Lasers and LIDAR Systems; (8) Satellite Data and
Information Technology; (9) Telecommunications; and (10) Biotechnology.
NOTE: Item (10)Biotechnology is an additional targeted high-tech
capability area that is added to this notice. It will cover
technologies for biodetection of microorganisms, biocleaning, and
sterlization for biocleaning and verification on spacecraft with
minimal comprise to spacecraft ability. HOW TO APPLY: All firms'
interested in participating as a presenter at the Forum should submit
a CORPORATE CAPABILITIES STATEMENT not to exceed six (6) pages in Word
70 or text format. The statement can be in any 8 x 11-inch format and
should include information on each firms': (a) Technical Areas of
Expertise and Capability; (b) Track Record of Successful Performance
(for the Technical Areas listed); (c) Research and Development, Design,
Manufacturing and/or Services Capabilities; (d) Management and Quality
Systems Capability; and (e) any Other Factors considered to be
relevant to its' high-tech capabilities. Also submit a COVER PAGE in
word 7.0 or text format which details the following information about
your company: (1) Contact Name; (2) Mailing Address; (3) Phone Number;
(4) FAX Number; (5) E-mail Address; (6) a Brief History of your
company; and (7) a Brief Biography for key officials of the company.
SELECTION: The Laboratory and NASA will select four (4) to six (6)
firms who will serve as small business presenters at the Science Forum.
There is no registration fee and participation is voluntary. Firms
selected to present must cover all travel at their own expense.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: The deadline for submission of corporate
capabilities is EXTENDED TO JULY 29. REGISTRATION: In order to
participate in the Science Forum, you must submit your intention to
attend the Forum at the official Science Forum web site at
http://acquisition.jpl.nasa.gov/boo/sciforum.htm. In addition, you must
SUBMIT YOUR COMPANY'S COVER PAGE and CORPORATE CAPABILITY STATEMENT to
arthur.a.duran@jpl.nasa.gov A reference only to your company's home
page does not count as a Corporate Capability Statement and will not be
considered by NASA/JPL. If you are not selected to participate as a
presenter you may still attend. The Science Forum is open to the
general public. At past Science Forums, non-presenters have actually
received subcontracts through networking with representatives in
