Rappoport, srappop@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army is interested in
evaluating the feasibility of incorporating plasma arc thermal
treatment for final solids waste remediation in the cyrofracture
munitons demilitarization process. This evaluation shall include a
review of the general state of plasma arc technology, a review of DOD
demilitarization needs and the identification of those needs that might
appropriately be fulfilled through plasma arc technology. Small scale
testing to validate plasma process applicability shall also be
conducted and the development of a preliminary conceptual design
including a capital and operating cost estimate shall be carried out.
The Government intends to award this sole source modification to
General Atomics, 3550 General Atomics Court, San Diego, CA 92186-9874.
