NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for designing and building a data system that will collect data from a Reusable Solid Rocket Motor (RSRM) pressure transducer. The data system shall be based on the Solid Rocket Booster's (SRB) Enhanced Data Acquisition System (EDAS). The EDAS is based on the SoMat Corporation's 2100 data system. The vendor is expected to procure and/or build all hardware except for the enclosures. The Government shall provide the enclosure for the data system. The Government will run all environmental tests that are required. The environmental tests are to be run at flight levels. There will be no Government specifications on how to fabricate the system. All existing vendor specifications/fabrication practices are sufficient for this effort. The new data systems are called OPT EDAS. This effort is for the design and fabrication of one OPT EDAS and one Unit Tester. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 8999 and $5M, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurment is DO-C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ 8-1-9-ED-C4452 is on or about August 16, 1999, with an anticipated quote due date of on or about August 31, 1999.
