and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Detachment Washington has a
requirement for American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services.
The interpreter will interpret between English and ASL for one deaf
computer specialist at the Washington Navy Yard, Bldg. 218, 4th floor,
Personal Property, Anacostia, Bldg. 150, Postal Operation Division,
Anacostia Bldg. 94 and Material Operations Division, Bldg. 176-1.
Occasionally the interpreter will accompany the deaf person to other
sites in and around the Washington Navy Yard and the Washington DC
Metro Area. The interpreter services will be required on every other
Monday eight (8) hours, eight (8) hours every Tuesday and Thursday, and
four (4) hours every Wednesday and Friday during the period from 1
October 1999 through 30 September 2000 with four (4) one year options.
Also, the government may elect to extend the period of performance an
addtional six (6) months in accordance with FAR 52.217-8, Option to
Extend Services. Work will involve interpretation for occasional
meetings and contact with customers. If more than two hours of
continuous interpretatin are required, the contractor shall provide an
additional interpreter. The Government may require the interpreter to
provide training for beginning ASL students. The evaluation process
will include an interview for all offerors with the greatest likelihood
of receiving award. Award will be made to the offeror, which provides
the best overall value to the Government. The Request for Quotation
(RFQ) will be issued 04 August 1999. Offerors must be available for
