The Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), SAMHSA, through the General Acquisitions Branch, Program Support Center (PSC) plans to award a sole source simplified acquisition to Harvard University, Holyoke Center, in Cambridge, MA. This requirement is to provide training and technical assistance for the senior level management of the state health agencies. Two regional, two day executive training seminars will be offered, one in an urban location to serve eastern states and one in an urban location to serve western states. A team building day for the faculty would be added to the first training program to strengthen the program and ensure that the presentations are coordinated. It is anticipated that 75-80 senior level state mental health authority employees would be trained at each seminar and 11 faculty would provide the training. The seminars would cover such topics as management strategy, decision analysis and strategy, "customer service" in the public sector, new developments and best practices in the delivery of mental health services, the management of professional service organizations, handling of difficult problems, implications of the new biotechnology for the delivery of public mental health services, and working with the media.
