Simulation Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) is soliciting
comments from industry on a draft Flexible Interoperable Transceiver
(FIT) Standard version 9.0. The purposed of this Standard is to define
a general-purpose common RF data link capability that can be used in
a wide variety of military test and training range applications, and
that will promote interoperability. Planned uses for data link
equipment built in conformance with this standard include time space
position information (TSPI) collection, limited vehicle data
collection. FIT equipment will be highly tailorable in both hardware
and software to fit specific applications. Tri-Service representatives
have developed the current draft version of the FIT Standard with the
assistance of industry and academia. The FIT draft Standard is posted
on the WWW STRICOM Home Page. Access to the STRICOM Home page is :

Interoperable Transceiver (FIT) Standard. Upon receipt of industry
comments, STRICOM will amend the FIT Standard and issue a new version
10.0, which will serve as the foundation for the development of the FIT
demonstration equipment to prove out the performance of the Standard.
The ultimate goal of the FIT program is to provide the Services with a
final Standard that can be used by program offices to procure
production transceivers that not only serve their applications but are
also interoperable with one another, and can be used at multiple
ranges or training centers. It is requested that industry provide their
comments by inserting them directly into the electronic copy of the
standard (WORD version 97) by turning on the revision markers. Then
e-mail this document to Mr. Eddie Meadows at Eddie_
Meadows@stricom.army.mil . In addition, please send a copy of your
submission to CirineoAV@navair.navy.mil. Comments should be provided to
the above addressees NLT 25 August, 1999. Interested parties are advise
that the Government does not intend to pay for the information
solicited and will not recognize any costs associated with submission
of information. Proprietary information is not being solicited;
however, if it is submitted it should be marked accordingly. Posted
