The project consists of removing 6 bottomless arches and sills. A 914 mm CMP next to one of the arches will also be removed. Two arches will be replaced with 2400mm x 1720mm CMPA's with baffles. The remaining 4 arches will be replaced with 2600mm x 1820mm CMPA's with baffles. All CMPA's will be backfilled to the top of the baffles with a mixture of Class 3 riprap and reserved streambed material. Inlet and outlet riprap protection will be installed. Riprap outfall aprons are to be constructed at all sites. All sites are located on FDR 6590, a portion of the Zarembo Island road system in Southeast Alaska. The sites are located at kilometers 16.01, 16.17, 17.30, 45.06, 47.63, and 47.96. A timing window of June 18 to September 1 applies to the sites at kilometers 16.01, 16.17, and 7.30. A timing window of June 18 to September 15 applies to the sites at kilometers 45.06, 47.63, and 47.96. The Zarembo Island road system can be accessed from St. Johns Harbor and Roosevelt Harbor. The sites are located approximately equal distances from St. Johns and Roosevelt Harbors. Roosevelt Harbor is located approximately 18 air kilometers southwest of Wrangell, Alaska and is accessible by float plane and boat only. St. Johns Harbor is located approximately 36 air kilometers west of Wrangell, Alaska and is accessible by float plane and boat only. The estimated start work date is early February 2000. The contract shall be completed by September 15, 2000. Estimated price range for the project is between $100,000 and $250,000.
