gary_machacek@udlp.com. United Defense Limited Partnership (UDLP) has
been awarded a = contract from the Army Office of Program Management,
(OPM) Crusader, Picatinny = Arsenal, NJ for the development of the
next generation Self Propelled Howitzer = (SPH) and Resupply Vehicle
(RSV). The Defensive Armament (DA) Subsystem has been identified as an
item, which requires subcontractor development. =20 A Request for
Proposal (RFP) is expected to be released 16 September = 1999 for the
Detailed Design, Fabrication and Engineering Support for the =
Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Crusader
program. The = subcontract period of performance will occur in two
distinct phases: (1) Phase 1 = will be performed during the Crusader
PDRR Continuation time period of January = 2000 through February 2001,
(2) Phase 2 will be performed during the = Crusader EMD time period of
March 2001 through September 2005. During Phase 1 the = Defensive
Armament detailed design will be accomplished. During Phase 2 =
fabrication of the Defensive Armament will commence, along with
engineering support = activities to the EMD products. At total of
nineteen (19) subsystems will be = produced during EMD, with deliveries
beginning November 2001 and ending = approximately in August 2002,
which equates to approximately two (2) subsystem = deliveries per
month. The Defensive Armament subsystem consists of a sight, gun and
mount. = The sight package will contain a FLIR, day TV and Class 1
eyesafe LRF. The gun = is presently the M2 .50 cal machine gun,
although a trade study is = expected to be performed by the
subcontractor to determine if this is the appropriate = choice.=20 The
sight/gun platform is stabilized, has continuous 360 degree azimuth =
rotation capability along with =9625 to +45 degree elevation movement.

Minneapolis, MN for this procurement. A = pre-release of Sections C and
M of the RFP and the Defensive Armament requirements = will be released
approximately 2-3 weeks before the bidder's conference. = Respond by 23
