99 -- MISCELLANEOUS SOL RFQ-NCI-90154 DUE 081899 POC Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent, 301-402-4509, Todd Cole, Contracting Officer The National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), plans to procure Primer/Probe combinations from Perkin Elmer, P.O. Box 72400-9000, Philadelphia, PA 19170. It is essential that the Neuroimmunology Branch, NINDS, procure the required materials(as kits) for all the cytokines of interest- IL-1, IL-2, IL-5, IL-6, IL-12p35, IL-12p40, IL-13, IL-15, IL-18, TNF-alpha, Lymphotoxin-alpha, and TGF-b. The referenced kits are required for research in the area of the etiology, pathogenesis, immune responses, diagnostic measures and treatment of multiple sclerosis. Specifically, the noted cytokine gene expression primer/probe combinations shall help develop biomarkers and allow NINDS to follow disease activity longitudinally. The above materials are used in conjunction with state of the art technology by highly reproducible quantitation of gene expression by the ABI PE 7700 Sequence Detection System (ABI-TaqMan).The existing ABI PE 7700 Sequence Detection Systems which was purchased from P.E. Biosystem can only utilize the above primer/probe kits, and there are no other kits known to the NINDS research that can function with this system. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material ins ufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can meet the requirement.
