The Office of the Product Manager for Mortars is seeking information and sources for the production of Black Powder Pellets or other alternative ignition train energetic material for use in 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm Mortar Ignition Cartridges. The Pellets must be able to reliably ignite and burn the propellant to produce the required performance of the ignition cartridge. Information on new technology (i.e. coatings to prevent moisture pick-up) and other available compositions in the market is requested. All energetic material must be capable of being fabricated into pellets, which are dimensionally in accordance with drawing #7549177. Samples of materials are permitted to be forwarded for evaluation, but should not exceed 5 lbs. This request is at no cost to the U.S Army.
