NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for One (1) each frequency tripled; flight qualified Nd:YV04 laser to operate simultaneously at 1064 nm, 532 nm, and 355nm. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Lite Cycles, 2010 N. Forbes Blvd., Tucson, AZ. Lite Cycles is the only company able to provide a three-wavelength, aircraft flight-qualitied, conductively cooled laser. Lite Cycles has a history of producing laser systems for aircraft measurements and conductively cooled systems. The dimensions of this laser head are 4.0 x 6.5 x 20 cm. Two 12-watt coupled CW pump laser diodes are operated conservatively at <50% of their rated power and on a duty cycle for long life and high reliability and performance. The laser is designed for storage over the temperature range of -50 to +60 degree C, and to operate in that environment with heaters to maintain the temperature of thhe laser system above 0 degree C. This laser is to be flight qualified. Delivery is required to GSFC, Greenbelt, MD prior to December 31, 1999. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
