Minnesota (UMN) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) are
pleased to announce an initial meeting of the Industrial Advisory Panel
of a newly developed Center for Biomedical Microsystems (CBM). The
first meeting is scheduled for August 10, at 3:00 PM, in Minneapolis at
the University of Minnesota, Basic Sciences and Biomedical Engineering
Building, Room 6-101, 312 Church Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455. The
CBM was established as a center for collaboration among universities,
national laboratories, and industrial partners for the purpose of
developing Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) and other Microsystems
technologies for applications in medical devices and biotechnology. The
CBM represents a unique partnership among academic and government
researchers, medical professionals, third party payers, and industrial
members who share common interests in the development of Surgical,
Diagnostic, and Therapeutic Microsystems. The Center Institutes

who will play an active role in the research and development effort at
the CBM. It is anticipated that Industrial Partners will have the
opportunity to commercialize technologies developed at the CBM. To
