The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Armament, Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000, intends to award a sole source contract to Honeywell Inc., Military Avionics Division, 11601 Roosevelt Blvd., St. Petersburg, Fla. 33716. This requirement is for System Technical Support to provide repair and engineering support service to the Army for the Modular Azimuth Position System (MAPS). The MAPS is a major system used in various Army weapon platforms, developed by Honeywell Inc., that meet the Government performance specification requirements. Honeywell has been prequalified and is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and designer for the MAPS system. Since the MAPS was bought under a performance specification developed by the Government, the Government does not hold the data rights of the MAPS design. For the requirement under this announcement, the contractor is responsible to insure that the repaired MAPSs are fully functional without technical input from the Government. The contractor is also required to obtain the technical knowledge of the MAPS to provide engineering service to the Government when requested to include system integration with various system platforms and engineering feasibility studies. The contract will be a task order type contract and the effort is for a period of 36 months. This proposed acquisition will be issued on or before August 13, 1999 with proposals to the Government due approximately 30 days later.
