The closing date of this synopsis/solicitation is extended to 8/11/99 at 2:00 p.m. This is to answer questions posed by site visit attendees. Question 1. Does the Government want filters replaced? Answer. No. Question 2. Does the Government want all air handlers and associated duct work cleaned in the Mechanical Room in Bldgs. 1258 and 1259? Answer: Yes, but not in any of the Laboratories. The wall and the ceiling of the Mechanical Room will be the boundaries; no Laboratory shall be entered. Question 3. How do you want to treat damaged porous lining on interior lined duct? Does the Government want it encapsulated, does the Government want it cleaned, or does the Government want it removed and replaced? This solicitation does not include removal, repair or replacement of any damaged porous lining. The damaged lining should be cleaned, removing any loose particulate matter, without mechanical action, which could further damage the material. After cleaning the porous liner, the contractor shall encapsulate the porous duct lining. Disinfectants shall not be used on porous duct linings but shall be used on rigid duct.
