301-402-4509 The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Laboratory of
Pathology intends to procure on a sole-source basis, an Imaging System
(Chemilmager Model 4400), from Alpha Innotech. The NCI investigator
believes that the aforementioned instrument and organization is the
only source that can satisfy their requirement. The imaging system
shall have the following features; Cooling of CCD sensor to -60 below
ambient (room) temperature allowing for exposure times up to 4 hours in
length, a signal to noise ration of greater than 60 db, and maximum
reduction of dark (heat) current noise; 2/3 inch CCD sensor format for
increased sensitivity (light gathering ability of the CCD); 11.6 x
13.5 micron pixel size for enhanced sensitivity; 1/30 to 4-hour
exposure control by 1/30 second increments or custom minute, second,
1/30th second controls for real time imaging; shall have movie mode
allowing for up to 50 images to be automatically captured with a single
button click with user defined exposure times and time delays between
image captures; shall have single button activation of commonly used
features to include 1D and 2D densitometry, colony counting, molecular
weight analysis, annotation, and image enhancement; shall have image
analysis in color or grayscale; shall have image save capability in 15
different file formats including TIFF, BMP, PCX, JPEG, EPS, color TGA,
(optional GIF) and PIC compatible with MAC or PC computers, with up to
256 characters per file name; shall have the option of expanding the
imaging system to a multi-acquisition unit, with the scanner and cooled
color camera add-ons; shall have an automated filter wheel for the
emission filters necessary for imaging different fluorescent dyes,
multi wavelength UV and blue light excitation sources for a variety of
fluorescent applications; shall have available optical lenses down to
an f-stop of .85; shall provide lifetime software upgrades at no
additional cost to the Government; shall include a one (1) year
warranty; shall include installation, training and system support for
life; shall include at no additional charge, Hands-on Application
Notes; and, shall provide a Year 2000 Warranty for each hardware,
software, and firmware product delivered. This notice of intent is not
a request for competitive proposals. This is not a request for
competitive quotations, however, if any interested party believes it
can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of
capabilities. Information furnished must be in writing and must contain
sufficient detail, to allow NCI to determine if the party can meet the
requirement. Capability statements must be received in the Contracting
Office by 2:00 PM EST on August 25, 1999. If you have any questions,
