D -- AUTOMATED COMMERCIAL ENVIRONMENT POC Michael Rebain, 202-927-0598 The United States Customs Service intends to solicit proposals for a prime contractor to support the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Program Management Office with its Customs Modernization efforts. The result of these efforts will be a comprehensive update of the Customs Information Technology environment. The initial task under the prime contract will be to modernize Customs' international trade facilitation by replacing the current Automated Commercial System (ACS). Customs intends to make pertinent information broadly available to all interested parties to ensure a full and open competitive environment. Information concerning Customs Modernization, pilot efforts, applicable background, and the planned solicitation itself will be published on ProcureNet, the acquisition page on the U.S. Customs Service web site at: http://www.customs.treas.gov/procurenet Prospective offerors are advised to check ProcureNet regularly for updates regarding the ACE procurement. An open session for interested vendors and the release of a draft solicitation to industry for comments are tentatively planned for October, 1999.
