SOL RFQ-NCI-90160 DUE 081699 POC Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent,
301-402-4509, Todd Cole Contracting Officer The National
Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute(NCI),plans to procure
services from The Health Research Association(HRA), University of
Southern California(USC), 1640 Maengo S., Los Angeles, CA 90033 to
measure hormones in tissue and serum samples collected in an NCI
methodologic study. The purpose of the methodologic study is to
investigate whether serum levels of hormone reflect intraprostatic
androgenicity and to provide information to aid the future direction of
epidemiologic studies on hormones and prostate cancer. NCI has
collected 1,080 prostatic tissue samples and 100 serum samples and the
purpose of this acquisition is to determine the levels of testosterone
(T), dihydrotestosterone (DHT), DHT sulfate, androstanediol glucuronide,
estradiol, estrone, estrone sulfate, and sex hormone binding globulin
(SHBG). HRA has measured serum and tissue hormones in the past using
specific assays and the data from that study, which is similar to this
one, will be compared with the newdata. In addition, a limited amount
of tissue samples are available for each study subject. Dr. Frank
Stanczyk, HRA, USC, has developed special assays to measure all seven
hormones at the same time on very small samples and has demonstrated
their use. His facility is the only one known to NCI that can perform
all the assays at the same time using very small samples. This is not
a request for competitive proposals. However, interested parties who
believe they have this capability and can meet NCI's requirements may
submit a capability statement for evaluation. The statment must be in
writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to
determine if the party can meet the requirement. Capability statements
must be received in the contractng office by 3:00 p.m. EST, on August
16, 1999. For further information please contact Cynthia Brown, (301)
402-4509. A determination by the Government not to compete this
proposed requirement based upon response to this notice is solely
within the discretionof the Government. Information received will be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
competitive procurement. Please reference RFQ-NCI-90160. No collects
calls will be accepted. Posted 08/05/99 (W-SN363723). (0217) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0098 19990809\R-0005.SOL)
