S -- - INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH THE WESTERN PACIFIC REGIONAL FISHERY MANAGEMENT COUNCIL. Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council (Council) for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Purpose of contract to conduct multilateral high level conference on the conservation and management of highly migratory fish stocks in the central and western Pacific. The conference involves fishing nations and will be held in Honolulu, HI. The contractor, in coordination with the Forum Fisheries Agency, will fully coordinate the conference, providing support to ensure the participation of island nations in the Pacific. Coordination will include conference planning, meeting logistics and operations, and post-conference administration. The Council's purpose is to conserve and manage fishery resources which lie within US EEZ waters surrounding American Samoa, Guam, Hawaii, the Northern Mariana Islands, and other remote island territories throughout the Pacific. Over the past 22 years, the Council has worked with island and rim nations and fishery organizations in the south, central and western Pacific to assess and develop management programs for highly migratory species in its jurisdiction. No other organization involved with remote organizations in the Pacific, the NMFS, and other interested organizations.
