(401) 736-1762 ISSUE DATE: 08/26/99. Contractor shall provide all
labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision and disposal
necessary for a new waterline to the Boathouse at USCG Station
Menemsha, Chilmark, MA (Dukes County). Work includes cutting an
approximately 2' wide, 4' deep, 480' long utility trench for a 1-1/2"
PVC waterline. Approximately 150' of the utility trench will be through
bituminous concrete, the remainder will be through a dirt road leading
to the Coast Guard boathouse at Menemsha. Additional work includes
excavating 3 pits as indicated in the contract drawings to hook up
existing waterlines, re-paving all portions of the asphalt road
affected by the utility trench, re-grading and placing a gravel surface
course on the unpaved travel way leading to the boathouse and
incidental related work. Estimated cost of this project is between
$25,000 and $100,000 dollars. SIC code is 1794. Solicitation packages

Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short-term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The max. line of credit is $500,000. For further information
