The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego (SSC-SD) intends to negotiate a firm fixed price indefinite-quantity, indefinite-delivery, (IDIQ) delivery order type contract in accordance with FAR Part 15 for the Fiber Optic Antenna Link (FOAL) Assembly that consists of an Antenna Module, a Receiver Module, and a Jumper Cable. The Antenna Module is mechanically designed for external mounting on the mast of a ship's superstructure. The electronics contained in the antenna will receive Global Positioning System (GPS) signals, in a high Electromagnetic field (EMF) environment, and process these signals for transmission over fiber optic cable, through the Jumper Cable, to the Receiver Module located internally below deck. In normal operation the units would be used in tandem with one FOAL Assembly mounted "fore" and one "aft" on a ship. The Receiver Module has an optical switch that provides for selecting its antenna source from the two inputs. The Antenna and Receiver Modules are made of electrical and optical components that were procured from manufacturers' commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) inventory.
