80 -- AIM COATINGS, COATINGS, PAINTS SOL N47408-99-R-8888 DUE 091599 POC Ms. Naomi Melendez, Contract Specialist, 805-982-5095, fax 805-982-3015 The Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center (NFESC), Port Hueneme, California is developing a pre-approved list of commercial coatings meeting the Federal and Military standard specifications. The list is to be used by field personnel in selecting commercial "off-the-shelf" coatings for Navy Architectural and Industrial Maintenance coatings projects. To develop this list, technical information on coatings relevant to the coating standards referenced in the Guide Specifications is required. NFGS-09900, Paints and Coatings, is the Naval Facilities Engineering Command generic Guide Specification for painting/ coating architectural structures and also references the Military, Federal and Commercial Item Description (CID) standard paints and coatings that are used. NFGS-09901 is a new reference guide that will list the referenced coating standards from NFGS-09900 and the commercial products that meet the performance requirements. A letter detailing the requirements has been mailed to known manufacturerstaken from a mailing list and enhanced by contacts and internet searches. Included with the letter is an enclosure listing the 10 most commonly used Federal/Military coating standards for Naval facilities which will be the focus of this first effort. Please be sure to submit data in the same units of measure using the same testing criteria as listed in the standard.
