Contracting Officer; both FAX 202-426-0091 The U. S. Department of
Energy (DOE) intends to modify its current contract DE-AC01-97EH97154,
with SSDS, Inc. of Fairfax, Va for pilot deployment of the Medical
Surveillance Information System (MSIS) software previously developed by
SSDS, Inc. for DOE. The modification will extend software deployment
support through Fiscal Year 2000, including operation of the pilot site
at DOE Headquarters. As the majority of the MSIS software consists of
source code developed by, and proprietary to, SSDS, Inc., the proposed
contract action is for supplies and services for which the Government
intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the
authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAD) 6.302. Interested
parties may identify their capability to respond to the requirement and
submit price proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for
competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 45 days
after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the
Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this
proposed action based upon responses to this notice is solely within
the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
