The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue an order under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-98-G-0037 with McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, PO Box 516, St. Louis, MO 62166-0516, to provide the non-recurring engineering to support retrofit of the center barrels, nacelles, and selected center fuselage components with current F/A-18 C/D production components . McDonnell Douglas Corporation is the designer, developer, and sole manufacturer of the F/A-18 aircraft, and is the only known firm possessing adequate existing knowledge, facilities, tooling, and special test equipment to provide the engineering support required to perform the center barrel replacement effort on the F/A-18 aircraft in a timely manner.
