COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 11,1999 PSA#2407NIGHT VISION AND ELECTRONIC SENSORS DIRECTORATE EXPLOSIVE DETECTION
WORKSHOP The Communications-Electronics Command, Night Vision and
Electronic Sensors Directorate, (CECOM, NVESD), an organization within
the Department of the Army, is hosting an Explosive Detection
Workshop, on August 25, 26 and 27. The Workshop will begin with sign-in
at 8:00 a.m., August 25 and close at 12:00 p.m. August 27. The location
of the Workshop will be the NVESD facility at Fort Belvoir Virginia,
Building 399, room 323 (Day One), Building 305 Looft Conference room
(Day Two, Three). This Workshop is tailored for individuals who have a
vested interest in explosive detection technologies from a research
and development perspective as well as users of such technology.
Distinguished speakers for this Workshop are experts in ths field and
represent the following organizations: NVESD, EOD, Army Research
Office, Army Cold Regions Laboratory, Naval Research Laboratory, FAA,
FBI, CIA, ATF, National Institutes of Standards and Technology, Caltech
University and the University of Virginia. A mines/explosives
demonstration is planned for August 25 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Fort A.P.
Hill, Virginia. Transporation will be provided to this demonstration
and a boxed lunch will be available. The cost of the lunch is $7.00.
This demonstration provides a unique opportunity to witness, in person,
actual mines and detonations. A luncheon is also scheduled for August
26 at the Fort Belvoir Officer's Club. The cost of this buffet luncheon
is $10.00. There is no registration fee, however, a fee for the
luncheon and boxed lunch will be due upon Workshop sign-in. Those who
wish to attend this Workshop must register with the Point-of-Contact,
