Herting 202 326-4160 The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) seeks to maintain the increased number of hours under Option Year 1 and therefore increase the hours and clerical staff under Option Year 2 of an existing contract for the operation and management of the Office of General Counsel's(OGC) Communications Center. The additional three full time Record Clerks and the additional hours for Option Year 2 are necessary in order to capture more than 20 years of hard copy files in OGC's computerized case management system; to complete the reorganization of existing hard copy files; and to create or transfer related electronic entries in OGC's computerized legal case management system as existing hard copy files are created or reorganized. The current contract includes, but is not limited to, file organization and maintenance, and document processing, delivery and docketing services. This contract was awarded competitively based on, among other criteria, the contractor's prior experience in a law office or corporate legal environment. In view of the contractor's knowledge and understanding of the scope of work, the organization of the Communications Center and the operation of the computerized legal case management and information system, it is in the best interest of the PBGC for the current provider to complete this work by maintaining the increased labor hours and staff under the existing contract for Option Year 2. Maintaining this increased level of effort under the existing contract will ensure continuity of work, major completion of assigned work by September 30, 2000, and accuracy in execution.
