NASA Ames Research Center Plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for One (1) Verdi-V2 High Power Laser, Diode Pumped, Air-Cooled, Solid-State, not plasma tube, that produces 2 Watts of continuous visible light at 532nm (TEMoo) and Coherence > 1 meter. The laser will be used in a Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) system for measuring the flow around models in various wind tunnels. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA Ames Research Center intends to purchase the item from Coherent Laser Group, Santa Clara, CA, on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR Part 13.106-1(b), based on the laser's unique capability to meet the > 1 meter coherence length required. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. SOLICITATION IS NOT AVAILABLE. Interested firms have 10 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/ capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Reponses received after the 10 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
