and Human Services, Office of Minority Health, plans to award a sole
source simplified acquisition to Boston Medical Center. The contractor
is a comprehensive service health care provider in the New England
area. The contractor holds extensive data, and research capability in
the areas of managing an interpreter services program, and knowledge of
the health care needs of diverse populations. The contractor shall
conduct a research study on the efficacy of trained and untrained
interpreters in pediatric encounters with limited-English speaking
patients and provide a final report. The proposed contract action is
for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit
and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302-1.
Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to
respond to the requirement or submit proposals. No solicitation will be
issued. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed
contract based upon responses to this notice is solely for the purpose
of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The
simplified acquisition anticipated award date is September 1, 1999.
