E-MAIL: Barbara L. Kent, barbara.kent@msfc.nasa.gov. NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the Marotta VDE 108 Electronic Servo Controller. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Marotta Scientific Controls, Monteville, NJ. This recommendation is made pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The specified components are one-of-a-kind and are built exclusively to work with existing MSFC hardware. The Marotta VDE 108 is the only controller known that will ensure the safety of individuals exposed to the operation of hazardous testing at the improved hot gas facility. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have until August 25, 1999 to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after August 25, 1999 or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
