The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), U.S.
Department of Commerce, intends to negotiate with only one source,
Hewlett-Packard Company, PO Box 4026, Englewood, CO 80155-4026 for a 50
GHz Nonlinear Network Measurement Sytem. NIST requires, at a minimum,
a measurement system capable of: 1) providing stimulus signals with
frequencies up to 50 GHz; 2) synchronously and simultaneously
downconverting four broadband (50 GHz) vector signals to
intermediate-frequency (approximately 4 MHz) vector signals; 3)
digitizing the four downconverted waveforms with the resolution of a 23
bit converter; 4) completely calibrating two-port vector scattering
parameters in software; 5) calibrating absolute signal strength at
measurement ports using traceable technique; 6) calibrating total
signal phase at measurement ports using traceable technique; 7)
reconstructing current and voltage waveforms in software; and
integrating and controlling these required functions with software.
These are all required in order to deliver the necessary vector data.
