E-MAIL: Jon C. Schultz, Jon.C.Schultz@grc.nasa.gov. NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Item 1: 1 ea. GrindoSonic Elevated Temperature Measurement System-ETMTS Type 44 C, for use in upgrading an existing instrument, that measures the dynamic modulus property of advanced high temperature materials over a wide temperature range. The system is impulse excitation based and includes a furnace and related hardware and will upgrade the current system from room temperature only to elevated temperature capabilities.; Item 2: 1 ea. associated control software package necessary to upgrade the current, existing GrindoSonic instrument from room temperature only to elevated temperature capabilities. The software controls the furnace temperature and measurement process and communicates the parameters of the experiment to the microprocessor, which executes the measurements at user definable intervals and records the results of frequency and modulus versus temperature and shows them on the screen, both in numerical and graphical form. The results,in ASCII format, can be read from a spreadsheet program.; Item 3: 1 ea. Vacuum Pump with accessories for use with the elevated temperature furnace that goes with the GrindoSonic system. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from J.W.Lemmons,Inc., 3466 Bridgeland Drive, St. Louis, MO 63044-2606. The Authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) -- Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
