Evaluate and Repair Existing 80 Ton Compressor 1. Air Handler/Exhaust
Fans a. Measure actual air quantity for outside Air and supply air. b.
Measure actual air quality for kitchen exhaust system. c. Check
condition of the fans, condition of the fan belts, positions of the
outside air and return air dampers, possibility of blockage in the duct
or evaporative coils and the cleanliness of the coil surface. d. Report
the above test results before proceeding. NOTE 1-e. e. Rebalance
existing air handler supply fans to provide the maximum available
airflow. Adjust outside air damper to provide the outside air equal to
kitchen exhaust air but not less than 5000 CFM. 2.
Compressor/Evaporator Qualified refrigerator contractor, preferably a
Carrier technician, shall verify the following: a. Check the
thermostatic expansion valves, including the sensing bulb performance
and proper installation of the sensing bulb. b. Check the performance
of the following componentsof the automatic pumpdown control system. c.
The solenoid valve in each branch line to the evaporator. d. Low
pressure switch. e. Electrical interlock of the liquid solenoid valve
with the evaporator fan. f. Electrical interlock of the refrigerant
solenoid valve with the safety devices such as high pressure cutout,
oil safety switch and motor overloads. g. Low pressure settings, such
that the cut-in point corresponds to a saturated refrigerant
temperature lower than any ambient air temperature to which the
compressor may be subjected. h. Check the head pressure controller
setting per the manufacturer recommendation. i. Provide a suction
accumulator as a safety measure. j. Repair the rebuilt compressor. k.
Test and start-up the system and run for a minimum of twenty-four (24)
hours. l. Prepare a complete written report, including the checking
procedure, failure of components, accomplished corrective measures, and
result of testing and start-up of system. 3. Compressor Modification
Provide hot gas bypass to enable compressor to operate at loads below
25% of capacity (lowest step available with existing cylinder
unloaders), sized and installed per Carrier's recommendations. 4.
Warranty All repair work performed under this contract shall be
warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of acceptance of
the work by the Government. Satisfactory warranty documents must be
submitted at the completion of work. A pre-bid inspection of the work
site will be held at 11:00 am on August 25, 1999 for contractors prior
to submitting bids on this project. Failure to inspect the premises
will not be grounds for a claim after the contract has been awarded.
All work is to be performed in accordance with this scope of work.
