POC Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent, 301-402-4509, Todd Cole,
Contracting Officer The National Cancer Institute (NCI),
Laboratory of Cellular Carcinogenesis and Tumor Promotion intends to
procure on a sole-source basis, an Automated Cellular Imaging System
(ACIStm), from Chroma Vision Medical systems, Inc. the NCI investigator
believes that the aforementioned instrument and organization is the
only source that can satisfy their requirement. The imaging systems
shall have the following features: shall include a high resolution
microscope and high-powered camera coupled with automatic slide
selection; shall can 10,000-20,000 nuclei within two(2) to ten (10),
minutes, record the number of cells colored with the stain of interest,
the number of cells not colored within the stain of interest and the
average color of the colored cells; shall have automatic throughput
walkaway capability (to process slides stacked in the instrument
automatically while the instrument is unattended); shall include
software to calculate the intensity of any color signal within cells on
a slide; software shall allow semi-quantitative determination of
five(5) different colors in the nucleus and simultaneously identify
(without quantification) five(5) different colors in cytoplasm; shall
have the ability to examine all the nuclei on a slide within two(2) to
ten (10) minutes and store the coordinates of each area of interest
and be retrievable on demand for future re-examination; shall have
bright field photography to eliminate problems of color fading over
time; shall produce a linear quantification for increases in nuclear
color intensity; the system shall provide a large range of colors with
high resolution (eg. Different tones of the same color shall be
differentiated); shall be usable to determine a microdensitometry of
polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) -- DNA adduct formation in human
esophageal samples; the system shall include a microscope, tower and
monitor, spare bulb, spray duster, blank slides, slide carriers,
calibration slides, barcode labels, operators manual, installation,
training, and one (1) year warranty; and, shall provide a Year 2000
Warranty for each hardware, software, and firmware product delivered.
