Information in accordance with FAR 15.201(e). The U.S. Air Force, 311th
Human System Wing, Institute of Environmental, Safety and Occupational
Risk Analysis, Industrial Hygiene Branch, Brooks AFB, San Antonio, TX,
in collaboration with the National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health (NIOSH) is conducting performance tests on combination lower
explosive limit (LEL) and oxygen (O2) meters. The purpose is to
determine the best meter for Air Force fuel tank/cell entry operations.
Manufacturers and vendors may submit information and instruments, to
include all items nedded to operate the instrument (i.e., calibration
gas, adapters), for evaluation. Each instrument must be intrinsically
safe, sized for personal sampling, and have the ability to read
percentage jet fuel (JP-8, Jet A, Jet A-1), LEL and O2 concentrations.
