The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to acquire approximately 29 each EMUs for FY-99 and FY-00, and 34 each EMUs for FY-01 for use on the AV-8B aircraft for the United States Marine Corps and the Spanish Navy. NAVAIR intends to procure these items through a Letter of Offer and Acceptance with the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense who will negotiate with GEC Marconi Avionics, the sole manufacturer of the EMU and the only firm with pre-requisite knowledge and expertise to perform the effort.
