B -- MOLECULAR, EPIDEMIOLOGIC, AND ETHICAL STUDIES OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS SOL MKQPM90155 DUE 090799 POC Contact Mary Kimble, Contracting Officer (919)541-0388 The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences is negotiating with Howard University, in Washington DC for the following studies: A New Mathematical Structure for Analysis of DNA Sequence Variation; Genetic Epidemiology of Asthma Among African Americans; Networking and Connectivity; The Voice of the Community: African American Perspective on Human Genome Sequence Variation Research; Genetic Epidemiology of Breast Cancer Among African American Women; Characterization of African American Ancestral HLA Haplotypes in West Africans; Proposal for DNA Isolation and Genetic Analysis of Skeletal Material from New York African Burial Ground. These studies will be awarded as a sole source under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 ( c) (1). The justification for this determination is the continuation of previous studies and collaborations between National Human Genome Research Institute and Howard University. Each of these studies will be awarded under the Simplified Acquisition procedures and will be completed by September 2000. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 15 days of this notice to Mary Kimble at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible.
