Sections 470 et seq., the National Park Service is offering Historic Leasing Opportunities at Fort Hancock, Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Sandy Hook, a unit of Gateway National Recreation Area, attracts over 2.5 million visitors annually. Fort Hancock, resting at the tip of the Sandy Hook peninsula, is one of the finest and most complete examples of early coastal defense fortifications in the country, and offers breathtaking views of Sandy Hook Bay, the New York skyline, Long Island, and the Atlantic Ocean. 32 buildings with over 270,000 gross square feet are available for adaptive use, in exchange for their rehabilitation, preservation, and maintenance. The Park Service will consider all proposals that are consistent with the park's General Management Plan, that recognize and benefit from the character and setting of the historic district, and that demonstrate sufficient fiscal resources to undertake a public-private partnership.
