The U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Contracting Center has a requirement for the procurement and installation of six (6) each steel golf course bridges on Fort Sam Houston, TX. The contractor will be responsible for removing the existing bridges and installing the new bridges in locations specified by the government, which may not be the same sites as the old bridges. The bridges will vary in size from 20 feet long, 6 feet wide to 80 feet long, 10 feet wide with a load limit of from 10,000 to 24,000 pounds. The procurement will be conducted in two steps. In the first step, specifications will be provided which identify an acceptable bridge manufacturer. Interested offerors will be invited to propose either a product of that manufacturer or an equivalent product from another manufacturer. All proposed bridges will be evaluated. In the second step, the offerors proposing bridges which are considered acceptable will be requested to submit prices on their proposed bridges. The solicitation number is NAFFJ2-99-R-0003. The bridges will be acquired with non-appropriated funds (NAF). The applicable SIC code is 3441 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. The requirement will be issued under full and open competitive procedures (unrestricted). It is anticipated that the request for proposal (RFP) will be issued on or about September 7, 1999. Step one proposals will be due on or about October 1, 1999. All requests for the RFP must be in writing on company letterhead, and must include a non-refundable $10.00 check or money order payable to the U.S. Treasury.
