Herchak, Contract Officer The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), intends to negotiate solely with PE Biosystems in Foster City, CA to furnish, deliver (F.O.B. Origin), and install at the USDA, ARS, Eastern Regional Research Center, in Wyndmoor, (Philadelphia), PA, an Automated DNA Synthesizer and Purification System. The system will be used to synthesize large quantities of oligonucleotides within a 24 hour period for use in a high throughput DNA sequencing operation. The system includes an Automated DNA Synthesizer and Purification System with a Power Macintosh G3 (or equivalent) operating system and software, and a Start-up Chemical Kit. All software shall be "Year 2000 Compliant." Delivery and installation shall be made within 60 days of receipt of the purchase order. The contractor shall provide at a minimum a two-day, on-site training. The contractor shall provide one set each of the site preparation manual, user, software, and maintenance manuals. The contractor shall provide a standard commercial warranty for this system and software. Companies with the demonstrated capability and financial capacity to provide and service such equipment must submit a written substantive statement outlining the Company's and systems' capabilities to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of publication of this notice.
