COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 23,1999 PSA#2415National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSAS, 6120
Executive Blvd, EPS/Room 638, Bethesda, MD 20892-7227 66 -- MICROGENE CLIPPER SEQUENCER SOL RFQ90179-NS DUE 090799 POC Todd
Cole, 301-402-4509 The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National
Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Clinical Sciences (DCS), Medicine
Branch proposes to procure a MicroGene Clipper Sequencer from Visible
Genetics, Inc., 700 Bay Street, Suite 1000, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
MSG1Z6. The Medicine Branch currently has an Open Gene 2 Dye System
that was purchased from Visible Genetics. The system is used in
research to understand the mechanisms by which reconstitution of
leukocytes occur after chemotherapy and/or bone marrow transplantation.
The current system is utilized heavily by the Medicine Branch. The add
on of a clipper sequencer will accommodate the increased usage by
doubling the output capabilities of the current system in a seemless
fashion. The system add-on shall have the following features: 1) The
system shall be completely compatible with the existing Visible
Genetics Open Gene 2 Dye System; 2) It shall have two dye, 16 lane
automated DNA sequencing capability; 3) The instrument shall allow
additional sequencing of 400 bases in 30 minutes (plus or minus five
minutes); 4) It shall continue to enable the user to use Cy 5.5 and Cy
5 dye chemistries; 5) The instrument shall also include upgraded
system software for the base system as well (GeneObjects Software v.
3.1 or equal). Since the MicroGene Clipper is an add-on system that is
completely compatible to the existing Open Gene 2 Dye System, Visible
Genetics is the only source know by the NCI researcher that can meet
the above requirement. This is not a request for competitive quotation.
However, if any party believes it can meet the above requirement, it
may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities
and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain
material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party
can perform this requirement. Capability statements must be received in
the contracting office by 3:00 p.m. EST, on September 7, 1999. If you
have any questions, please contact Marsha Gorham, Purchasing Agent on
(301) 402-4509. A determination by the Government not to compete this
proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely
within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
competitive procurement. Posted 08/19/99 (W-SN370064). (0231) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0359 19990823\66-0014.SOL)
