The Office of Minority Health/Office of Public Health and Science through the General Acquisitions Branch/Program Support Center intends to award a sole source Simplified Acquisition to The University of Texas-Pan American for conducting a three day conference on elderly health. The conference shall be held in South Padre, Texas, on October 20-22, 1999. The contractor serves the entire Texas-Mexico Border population and shall provide resourses to plan and organize the conference, while covering topics such as:toxic and hazardous substances, substance abuse prevention, diabetes, and the effect on childen's health of poverty. The Contractor shall also submit five abstracts on Hispanic Elderly Health issues affecting older persons along the U.S.- Mexico border. Conference proceedings and an evaluation report shall be submitted after completion of the conference. The period of performance is five months. The anticipated award date is Sept. 3, 1999.
