FY99JPS001DOI -- Fluor Daniel Fernald., a prime contractor to the
Department of Energy is trying to pre-determine interest in a Rotary
Kiln System prior to formally offering it for sale. A very brief
description follows, with additional information available on the
Internet; http://www.fernald.gov, listed on the Fluor Daniel Fernald
Home Page, Property Sales, Activities Index, Determination of Interest.
This system was installed and tested but never used in a full
production environment and has been out of service 10 years. Please be
advised, it is expected that there will be a minimum bid price
requirement to cover Fluor Daniel Fernald's cost of de-installation of
the system. The Rotary Kiln System was designed to dry or oxidize
product, disposing of material that might have been present in the
feed, and discharging them into a cooler. A removable grate is included
at the kiln discharge to capture large foreign particles. The cooler
reduced the product temperature to 200 degrees F and then transported
it to the product handling subsystem. Off gas from the kiln passed
through an afterburner that maintained a gas temperature of 1400
degrees F. The kiln system was designed to process the drums at a rate
of 1 every 5 minutes with a maximun of 400 to 1200 lb./h(max.).
Material requiring drying was heated to 400 degrees to 1000 degrees F.
The kiln was designed to with-stand occasional temperature excursions
to 1800 degrees F. The kiln was controlled to maintain a slight vacuum
of at least 0.3 in. wg. Please Note: A complete list of subsystems
available may be viewed on the Internet at the address indicated above.
