Support Center, Huntsville intends to award a sole source commercial
item contract for instructional services for the training course
entitled "Diving Inspector" to Florida Keys Community College, Key
West, Florida. There is no other known source for this service. Offeror
shall provide (other than those provided by the Government) all
services, personnel, facilities, materials, and training aids necessary
to administer and instruct this course. This course provides training
for Corps of Engineers employees who have quality assurance, safety,
inspection, and/or oversight responsibilities for diving contract
activities and/or operations. In-depth training sessions cover the
following topics: diving physics, diving physiology, dive tables, SCUBA
equipment and operations, surface supplied air equipment and
operations, diving support equipment, diving planning and contractor
submittals, Corps of Engineers regulations, and inspection of diving
operations. Instructors must be qualified, by education and experience,
in the professional disciplines to which the subject matter relates.
The course dates are 06-10 December 1999 (40 hours, 5 days). Class size
will be 30 students and course location is Key West, Florida. This is
not a formal solicitation. The synopsis of intent to award a sole
source is not a request for proposals/offers. Contractors who can
provide the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, with
the above services to administer and instruct the course as specified
above are invited to submit, in writing, an affirmative response which
includes, as a minimum, the proposed credentials and qualifications,
any applicable pricing data, and any information indicating a bona fide
ability to meet this specific requirement. All responsible sources may
respond to this synopsis, and all such responses will be considered by
the agency. If no written responses are received within 15 calendar
